Snape: Life after Voldemort
Alec Fry
TICKETS: Sold Out
Alec Fry, comedian, MC, speaker & comedy writer based in
Melbourne started his comedy journey in 2002 as a stand-up comedian. He regularly
hosts trivia in character as Severus Snape, finding inspiration to create the
concept of the show based on this unforgettable character.
It has been some time since the Wizarding World had their
apocalypse. Everyone's favourite Potions professor is trying to find a new
career – with your help! How is he still here? What has he been doing? What is
the inside scoop on life in the biggest school of wizardry and witchcraft?
Snape now finds himself trying to make a living in our Muggle world.
There is a Youtube video out there where in an alternate
reality, Snape survives the attack from Nagini by means of an antidote he has
been drinking in preparation for an attack, and his ability to mend wounds a la
Sectumsempra style. This give cause to Snape surviving, however other
characters mentioned in his material are still dead, making for some very
confusing jokes.
The space was intimate, with about 20 people in attendance,
and audience participation is encouraged within his material. Upon the stage
was a box of props that assisted Fry’s gimmicks.
Unfortunately, Fry relied on his multi-page document too
heavily as his script to get through the hour, and then still gave us an early
5 minutes. There was seldom laughter in the room and following the end of his
show, he left the space, leaving the audience to ponder what they had witnessed
the hour prior and if someone was going to open the door for them, thank them for
their time… but none of that came.
Alec Fry has two shows remaining this season, and both are
sold out. I wish him all the best with the final shows

The show was listed as 50 minutes, and therefore ran over by 5. The staff missed their cue to open the door after the show - but I will be doing that from now on. A suspension of disbelief helps appreciate the possibilities of life after the HP movies for other characters too, I will now disclaimer that at the start of the show. Thanks for your attendance.
